Recently, Tanner and Noah got wind of a high school mountain biking team that was being coached by a friend of ours. What does 2 mountain bike enthusiasts do with that information?? Join the team!!! Since the first part of April they've been practicing 3 days a week (12-16 mile rides) along with a little downhill in between (that's the riding through the forest, jumping stumps-mounds-etc, getting really muddy kind of riding).
This is the first year for WA state to have High School Mountain Biking teams. So exciting to be on the ground floor. There were a total of 60 riders in this first competition - not bad for its first year as an organization.
Sunday was their first 'official' race competition and what a gorgeous day to boot! Sunny, 66 degrees, not complaining one bit! The boys did awesome - we are so proud of them.
Tanner's bracket had 19 riders - all junior varsity. He placed 11th!
Noah's bracket had 23 riders - all Freshman/Sophomores. He placed 18th!

So glad for the guys that it wasn't pouring down rain!! That would have made for a muddy, messy ride!
